A new study has disclosed that the bioflavonoid quercetin plays a role in controlling a gene which protects LDL cholesterol oxidation.
Gene Paraoxonase 1 (PON1) takes care of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol from being involved in the oxidation process. The heart is protected from the oxidation process of LDL by the role PON1 plays by blocking cholesterol’s heart damaging process.
