Quercetin Helps Relieve Allergies

Seasonal allergies are a true irritant that can be hard to find relief. But research into natural compounds is startling to bring hope that one can get relief without the side effects of pharmaceutical products. With the occurrence of the developing interest in natural compounds, quercetin has been shown to have a number of positive qualities. Research has shown that it is anti-flammable, a natural antioxidant. It is found in many foods that we eat every day, such as onions and black tea. Research has also found that quercetin is a natural antihistamine.

Squeeze that Grape Juice

Wine has a great deal of health benefits and is appreciated by connoisseurs all year long. Wine does not have to have a label listing its ingredients or nutrition details under the regulations of the United States and this is how the wine industry prefers it. But there is a group that wants the regulations changed so that a label is listing nutrition facts available. This group’s insistence has caused the U.S. Department of Agriculture to collect the data to identify the nutritional information to be listed on typical wines.

The basic data collected for each wine type was the calorie count, alcohol content, levels of carbohydrates, cholesterol, sugars with minimal fat and fiber content. Read the rest of this entry »

Has Resveratrol Research Hit a Wall?

Heart Failure Reviews Journal is slated to publish an article titled, “Erratum to: Resveratrol and red wine, healthy heart and longevity.” The author is a scientist by the name of Dipak Das; he is with the University of Connecticut’s Cardiovascular Research Center. Das’s objective in his article is to point out the doubt that has arisen over resveratrol as an anti-aging compound. He agrees that substantial research data has been produced in the hundreds of studies that resveratrol cuts the dangers of deadly diseases, i.e. diabetes, cancers and heart failure.
