Red Wine, Anti-Aging, Resveratrol and Science
I just had an argument with a lady about how tough it can be to age, seeing as I am approaching that mystical age of 73 years old. You see, I still think of life as I did when I was much younger, let us say when I was in my twenties. She wants me to realize and act my age. Yes, it is true life is demanding. I have to keep things balanced, such as work, my family obligations and then try to fit in a social life. It’s true there is many a time I just run out of gas, or should I say energy. Fatigue can really make things difficult when I am caught up in a set of stressful circumstances. We settled our debate stating I have to make some changes in my lifestyle and diet to improve my quality of life and cope better.
Science has a way of providing answers to many of our problems and I found research is providing a pathway to solve the problems. Recent studies have found that there are food supplements which contain concentrated plant polyphenols, and valuable organic molecules residing in red wine grapes that could provide these benefits. Research has shown these organic molecules to activate sirtuin genes, becoming longevity genes, which enhance your energy and endurance.
David Sinclair and his research team at Harvard Medical School and laboratories around the world have completed research that confirms resveratrol’s ability be the most powerful of the known gene-activating plant polyphenols. Many people taking resveratrol supplements have experienced stamina and increase in energy.
Aging does affect the human body. But that does not mean we have to start falling apart with heart disease, cancer, or any of the other degenerative diseases. Yes, it is a fact, as we age the cells in our body slow in their growth and also tend to regenerate more slowly. It is important to understand cellular activity is involved in every part of the body and also every function in the body. This includes skin tissue, so as we age cellular healing, skin cell turnover and the development on new skin tissues can be developed in smaller portions as compared to when we were younger. Brain cells might even stop regenerating and repairing themselves, thus, causing some persons to age at an even increased rate and suffer more fatigue. Many times these individuals will experience mood changes to a lower level and find it harder to keep up with their daily routines.
Hormone levels that waver or are exhausted because of decreased cellular activity can act to create excessive stress and an overall poor state of health. Eating healthy, getting regular exercise and not taking a balanced nutritional supplement program of vitamins and minerals can cause an individual to age prematurely.
The multitude of research being done on resveratrol indicates it might have the ability to stop or radically slow poor aging. This will be accomplished by enhancing the individual’s energy levels, as seen in many research reports.
