I am rather amazed at the growing interest in the general population about quercetin. More and more people are being told about this bioflavonoid and many are seeking more information on where does quercetin come from, is it safe and what should it be used for to improve a person’s health. So I have tried to gather some of the questions and their answers. I hope this proves to be useful for those looking for this information.

Quercetin is a bioflavonoid and it is found in a variety of vegetables and fruits. A great deal of research is being conducted on bioflavonoids to learn how these natural substances can help us overcome many of the health problems facing man. The research conducted to date has identified a number of ways quercetin can be used to treat a variety of illnesses, i.e. atherosclerosis, cataracts, diabetes, hay fever, allergies, high cholesterol, peptic ulcers and asthma. Quercetin Stifles Cancerous Cell Growth

Quercetin is a major breakthrough. Research has demonstrated that quercetin is a way to prevent cancer, and at the same time will act to help cure a cancer patient. These qualities are becoming even more evident as researchers combine quercetin with other natural compounds, such as quercetin and curcumin, to expand its effectiveness.
Quercetin has a number of qualities causing researchers to not question its ability to prevent cancer. Quercetin prevents cell proliferation and improves programmed cell death, minimizing DNA damage. These qualities have created an interest as a cancer-preventive nutrient. There is also evidence from epidemiologic studies which strongly recommend quercetin and resveratrol do correlate and support a reduced risk of certain cancers. Research studies have shown quercetin’s ability to prevent or slow tumor development including cancers of the brain, liver, colon, and other tissues. Read the rest of this entry »
